Eligible parents or guardians must apply for the one-time payment for each student from kindergarten to Grade 12 by March 31, 2023.
The Ontario government announced a payment to support parents or guardians of school-aged children who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Known as the Catch Up Payment program, eligible parents or guardians can receive a direct payment of either $200 or $250 for each child enrolled in kindergarten through Grade 12 for the 2022-2023 school year. The payment is intended to help offset the costs associated with helping children catch up on missed classes during the pandemic.
To be eligible, children must attend a publically funded school, a private school, a First Nation-operated or federally operated school or be homeschooled. Parents with children up to 18 years old can apply for $200 payments for each child, while parents with children with special education needs up to the age of 21 can apply for $250. The deadline to apply is March 31, 2023, at 11:59 pm, and applications must be made through this Ontario.ca website.
It is important to note that this payment is in addition to other payments offered by the Ontario Government during the pandemic, including the Support for Families, the COVID-19 Child Benefit, and the Support for Learners program.
